Importance of Home Insulation
Insulation acts as a thermal barrier within a building’s structure, preventing the transfer of heat between the interior and exterior environments. In warmer months, it restricts heat gain, keeping indoor spaces cooler and less reliant on air-conditioning. During colder months, insulation minimizes heat loss by trapping warm air inside, reducing the need for excessive heating.
By stabilizing indoor temperatures, insulation reduces the workload on HVAC systems, leading to significant energy savings and lower utility bills. Additionally, it enhances overall comfort by maintaining consistent temperatures throughout the building and reducing drafts or hot spots.
Types of Insulations
There are many types of insulation materials including expanded polystyrene (EPS), extruded polystyrene (XPS), glass wool insulation, polyurethane spray foam and reflective barriers, each suited for different building needs. In our local environment, EPS and XPS insulation are among the most commonly used materials for roof and wall applications, considering their performance, cost-effectiveness, and load-bearing capacity.
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS)
Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulation is a lightweight, rigid foam insulation material widely used for roofs and walls due to its high thermal performance, cost-effectiveness, and durability.
Extruded Polystyrene (XPS)
Extruded Polystyrene (XPS) insulation is a rigid foam material known for its superior thermal insulation properties and exceptional compressive strength compared to EPS. However, these benefits come at a higher cost, making XPS a relatively more expensive option than EPS insulation

Selecting the Right Insulation for Your Application
Choose EPS if:
You need a cost-effective insulation solution for walls, lightweight applications, or non-load-bearing structures. For roof, minimum 25 kg/m3 density is recommended.
Choose XPS if:
You require high thermal resistance and high compressive strength, especially in roofing and load-bearing applications.
